Adult Summer Reading Program

Dwight Foster Public Library

Anyone 18 and over can join. Sign up at the Second Floor desk beginning Monday, June 12. Recording begins Monday, June 19. Anything you read between June 12 and July 29 counts for this program. The program will end Saturday July 29.

This year’s theme is Build a Better World. We have a list of reading suggestions but there are no required books. You can read fiction or non-fiction. You can read the books or listen to them. Then bring your sheet each time you come to the Library. We will mark your progress and you will get prizes! Report your reading to the Second Floor desk. You can record your reading anytime the library is open. Each time you report your reading or complete a weekly puzzle you can enter your name in our weekly drawing for one of many fun prizes donated by local businesses.

Reading Prizes will be awarded as follows: Read/listen 5 books: get a library pen; Read/listen 10 books: get a certificate for a FREE bag of books at the Friends of the library book sale July 28 and 29 thanks to the generosity of the Friends. We will also have a grand prize drawing at the end of the program. We will be giving away four $25 Chamber Bucks certificates. Participants will be entered in the grand prize drawing each time they complete one of the following: fill out a recommended book slip, attend any adult programs, complete a program quiz or read 10 books during the course of the program.

Crossing the Line: The Milwaukee Fair Housing Marches of 1967-1968 commemorates the 50th anniversary of Milwaukee's civil rights marchers through a traveling display examining the practices and prejudices that led to segregation in Milwaukee and chronicling the school desegregation and fair housing movements of the 1960s.

2. Complete the activities indicated in the reading record and visit the library to collect prizes. Participants will receive prizes after finishing 5, 10 and 15 activities.
3. After completing 15 activities from the inside of the reading record, participants may continue tracking reading hours to earn chances for the grand prize drawing. Readers will earn one grand prize entry for every five hours read. All reading must be logged by July 29.
